Sales and Services
The Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation District provides vital services for local landowners and land users. We partner with other government and non-government agencies to assist with various cost share program enrollments. We offer sales of items like warm season grass and forbes seed for conservation practices like habitat buffers and pollinator acres. We host a bi-annual sale of live fish for pond stocking. We also offer a small amount of equipment for rent. Finally, we maintian lists of contractors and nurseries for use in building conservation practices and planting of conservation grade trees and shrubs.
Fish Sale
Our SPRING Fish Sale is set for Thursday, March 14, 2024. Orders are due March 1st for Grass Carp and March 8th for all others.
The pickup location will be at the Hillsboro Township Shed, 9056 IL Rt 127, Taylor Springs, Illinois.
Seed Sales
The SWCD can assist you with your seed orders for certain CRP practices. They are CP 33 Habitat Buffer, CP 42 Pollinator, CP 43 Prairie Strips, CP 4D Grass Seeding, and CP 38 SAFE Acres.
Fabric Sales
We offer two widths of 8 ounce, non-woven, stabilization fabric. The 3' width sells for $0.65 per foot and the 15' width sells for $2.83 a foot.
Equipment Rent
The SWCD has a Holcomb 8 yard scraper for rent. The rate is $200 per day. Rent for six days, get the seventh day free.
